QASIM SYED - WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHER

Qasim Sayed Wildlife photographer of the year 2022

Wildlife Photographer of the Year

I have been photographing for well over a decade, but it is wildlife and nature that really draws my passion. With no control over the subject, the light and environment, it takes months of planning, pre-visualisation, field craft and patience to be rewarded with that intimate image with nature.

I tend to prefer more earthly and natural images, often using available light with the seasons and time of day, to create a story or add depth and wonder to an image.

My work has been recognised both nationally and internationally. Features in National Press include the BBC and Independent. Professional Magazines include Amateur Photographer, Digital Photographer and Professional Imagemaker. I write articles and lead workshops both at the Societies of International Photographers and the Royal Photographic Society.

I have multiple awarded images spanning various competitions. I was awarded the Wildlife Photographer of the Year in 2020 with a portrait image of a Vixen. I have multiple finalist and commended images across the globe.

The Royal Photographic Society awarded me with an Associateship in the Natural History Genre with my body of work showcasing Butterflies and Odonata. The images took 4 years to obtain and involved considerable planning and special techniques.

I use Canon camera equipment, starting with the Canon 500d, I moved to the Canon 7d mark 2 and eventually the Canon R5. This is paired with either the Canon 500mm F4L mark 2 Prime for general wildlife or the Canon 100mm F2.8L Lens for macro subjects.

I live in London, with my Wife and two kids. I also work as a full time NHS Doctor.
Thank you for visiting my web site and I hope you enjoy viewing my images. I regularly post my adventures in picture and video formats on my Instagram. I also broadcast live shows and stories. I would love to hear from you, so please don’t hesitate to contact me.
